Nine months after the death of CDS General Bipin Rawat, Lt General Anil Chauhan (retired) got the command

Appointed Lieutenant General Anil Chauhan (Retd) as the next Chief of Defense Staff (CDS). Nine months after India’s first CDS General Bipin Rawat died in a helicopter crash, the government has appointed Lt Gen Anil Chauhan (retd) as the country’s top military officer. According to a statement issued by the Defense Ministry, Anil Chauhan will also serve as the Secretary, Department of Military Affairs. Let’s take a look at the career of the new CDS of the country.

Lieutenant General Anil Chauhan retired as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Command on 31 May 2021 after 40 years of service in the Indian Army. Prior to taking over the Eastern Command, Lt Gen Anil Chauhan was the Director General of Military Operations in New Delhi.

Lieutenant General Anil Chauhan was inducted into the 11 Gorkha Rifles of the Indian Army in 1981. He completed his studies and training at National Defense Academy, Khadakwasla and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun.
In the rank of Major General, Anil Chauhan commanded an infantry division in the crucial Baramulla sector in the Northern Command.

Commanded the Corps as a Lieutenant General and became the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command from September 2019. He held this position till his retirement from the army in May 2021.

Let us inform that India’s first Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat and his wife died in December 2021 after a military helicopter crashed in Tamil Nadu. A total of 13 people were killed in this.
