The new program not only enables system evolution from previous versions to the latest but provides continuous improvements between versions through access to regular software updates.

With the new QCS ASM, when maintainers update a system they will have continuous access to the latest attributes and versions of the current software release.

Previously, these continuous improvements were not easily accessible, leaving factory managers stuck in the status quo of the day-to-release version of a specific system.

ABB’s new lifecycle management program removes the complexity and cost of accessing new software releases and features and fixes and enhancements between major system upgrades.

That reduces maintenance and support costs by shortening software delivery times and ultimately helps improve system availability, reliability, and performance.

The QCS also enables more cost-effective and proactive system management by offering multiple program levels to suit the needs of different customers.

The new Maintain Plus tier offers first-time customers with the latest version of QCS800xA the ability to access continuous software updates, new features, cybersecurity enhancements, and patches to their current version whenever they want.

For its part, the Maintain & Evolve level is aimed at factories with classic or legacy QCS800xA systems that need to upgrade between system versions.

Both levels include access to premium system documentation through myABB, ABB’s customer portal for managing its installed base, where licenses can be viewed and managed.

Customers can also stay informed of any system updates through the release notes posted on the ABB Library.

In addition, both include updates to any firmware-related QCS system devices, such as the network platform or actuator control center.

As Carl-Magnus Tjeder, Global Product Manager, Paper Machine Controls, ABB explains, “The differentiating factor of this program is that it offers customers up-to-date service support tailored to their needs.”
